Groove To The Beat With Android Apps
Picture this: You’re walking down the street in New Orleans, and you hear, unsurprisingly, music coming from the corner. When you get there, you find three hip hop musicians, singing and scatting to a great track. The music comes from their instruments: Android phones.
It’s not that farfetched of a vision. With the Android apps available today, making music is easy as pie.
Hip Hop Apps
If there is one group that has benefited from the torrent of apps for the Android, it would be the hip hop lovers. Now, making the music you love can be done anywhere: in a waiting room, during the walk home, or along a French Quarter street corner. Apps like Pocket DJ Vintage and MicDroid are just some of the apps for hip hop fans that make producing music simple.
With these amazing apps, you can access songs from your phone and mix them, transforming them into a new unique sound that’s ready for you. MicDroid lets you record your own voice and corrects it—just in case you miss a note or two. Other apps, like Uloops, let you design tracks and loop them into a seamless backing track, ready for your vocals to be laid over them.
If you want a simpler sound that spotlights you and your vocals, try something a little more off the beaten path, like the Cadeli drum machine. Available in both free and paid-for version, Cadeli lets you import wav files, adjust the pitch on any instrument, and access tons of effects and sounds. It is user-friendly and perfect for arranging backbeat. Only the paid-for version lets you save and export files though, so be prepared to pay a bit, or throw down some on-the-spot songs.
Coolout
MC Coolout was just another DJ from Philadelphia until he released his debut album, which was recorded and mixed solely on his Android phone. Coolout wrote his lyrics in GoogleDocs, so he could sing straight from the very device that was also recording his voice; and playing the backing track that he layered and chopped on the same phone. That, dear readers, is what an Android is: a being part-human, part-machine, doing something new.
What MC Coolout did might be novel, but you can do the same thing. Android apps make it all possible.
