All the steps works fine
Katrina, my ipad is not jailbroken…
Press the home button twice and slide to the left by swiping the bottom portion of the screen. I guess you might have swiped the top portion of the screen which takes you to the search screen.This will bring the music shortcuts.
I did not have to press play, then pause, then play. It just works fine in the first attempt.

Use two fingers to scroll the page. Also, you have to click play, the pause, then play again. I don’t know why that works, but that’s the trick we’re all using. Good luck and enjoy Google Music!

You also cannot scroll down the Google Music page at all. You are stuck with the top row of search results.

Hi, thanks for this article! I’ve really been enjoying Google Music Beta and was disheartened when I found out they only had mobile apps for Android. I just tested your method on my iPod Touch and found it doesn’t work. The songs do not play (perhaps because it takes too long to load) and in no way did I find a music skip,pause, etc buttons after clicking the home button twice. Have you jailbroken your iOS devices maybe?
